Life of asset services for the Dunlin Platform

The facilities in the Dunlin cluster include the Dunlin A platform and subsea infrastructure for the Dunlin Southwest, Merlin and Osprey fields in the North Sea. Owners, Fairfield Energy Ltd and co-venture partner Mitsubishi, executed plans to enhance the production levels of this mature field, and to extend the life of the field.

Since takeover in 2008, production was enhanced by drilling new wells, restarting production from wells that were not producing, and improving the uptime and reliability of the facilities and the water injection system. In this period production doubled and water injection reached rates not previously seen. Likewise, significant progress was made in addressing asset integrity issues and optimising maintenance.

We have more than 40 years of experience of working in the North Sea. Appointed as duty holder in 2008, we took over the role from Shell to the Dunlin cluster. In this role we managed offshore production operations, including safety, health and environmental regulatory compliance, allowing Fairfield to concentrate on its core responsibilities as licence operator.

Prior to the handover in February 2008, our team actively worked on the transition arrangements with Fairfield and the original owner (Shell) for more than a year. We are proud to have delivered a seamless transfer of day-to-day operations in such a safe and professional manner.

In 2014 Fairfield took over the duty holder role, with our company continuing to provide life of asset services.

In 2015 Dunlin ceased production.
